Walter Boasso
founded a 5 acre Dry/Tank container repair depot in New Orleans.
Later that year, he and Scott Giroir launched a container
Trucking division
1988

Realizing the global potential of Tank
containers, a dedicated Trucking division was formed in the name
of Gulf States Intermodal
1989
-
Outgrew the New
Orleans facility and moved to a 15 acre site in Arabi, LA.
A wash rack was erected shortly thereafter in order to provide
"full" service; first of its kind in the US
1997
-
The Chicago
Terminal was opened ... followed later that year by the Detroit
terminal. Entry into the Midwest region was strongly
requested by Boasso America customers
1999

The Houston terminal was opened as more and
more Gulf exports migrate from the Port of New Orleans to the
Port of Houston
2000

The Charleston and Jacksonville terminals
were then opened to provide a much needed presence in the ever
growing South Atlantic gateway
2003

Outgrew the Arabi
facility and moved to current state-of-the-art 50 acre
Chalmette, LA site
2005
-
Hurricane Katrina winds and flooding
devastated the Chalmette terminal in August along with the
entire Parish of St. Bernard. Operations are temporarily
shifted to the Houston terminal. By December, it is back
to operating 100%
2007
-
Boasso America was
purchased by Quality Distribution Inc. (QDI) in December
2008
-
The Newark
terminal was opened ... and management control of the Savannah
terminal was assumed from QDI
2010
-
The Savannah and Newark terminals complete
construction of cutting edge wash rack and repair shop buildings
